The average price of property coming to market has rebounded to an all-time high of close to £300,000, fuelled by a surge in demand after the Conservative election victory and a sparse supply of houses.

The average asking price for a home jumped 3 per cent, equivalent to almost £8,500, to reach £294,351 this month, according to Rightmove, the property portal. This was the largest ever rise for June.
